- The Showman of Showmen competition will determine the overall best showman of all species having the same number or more participants in their respective species showmanship classes (current years) as the total number of Showman of Showmen Contest participants from the previous year. In 2008, each eligible species must have 7 or more total showmanship class participants to qualify for the Showman of Showmen Contest competition. 2008 Pro Showman species to participate: Beef (show-off breeding, feeder calves and steers), hogs, sheep, rabbits, poultry, goats & horse.
- Participants shall consist of the Pro Showmanship winners (exception of beef – the overall beef showmanship winner will be determined by a show-off of the beef breeding, steer, and feeder calf pro showmanship winners) from each of the preceding species. If a species Pro Showmanship class winner wishes not to compete, the next highest placing individual will be eligible to enter from the species until a participant is secured.
- Any Jr. Fair exhibitor may only win this contest one year. If the Showman of Showmen winner still has additional years as a Jr. Fair exhibitor, the winner may ONLY show in the Pro Showmanship classes of any species where they are currently exhibiting.
- In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by naming the winner from the best overall showing. (Example – highest number of first, second, etc. placings).
- If any participant fails to participate in any one class due to injury, illness or other reasons, that participant will receive no points for that class.
- Each species overall showmanship winner (Pro Showman winner in most species) must sign a “letter of commitment” to participate in the Showman of Showmen contest. If the overall winner wishes not to participate in the Showman of Showmen Contest, then the next eligible participant from that particular species participant must confirm their participation one hour before the start of the contest and be present at the assigned location.
- Each contest participant must confirm their participation one hour before the start of the contest and be present at the assigned location.
- The next individual in line from all participating species shall be present one hour prior to the start of the Showman of Showmen contest in case a replacement is needed.
- Exhibitor may not use his/her own animal or show equipment during this competition.
AWARDS: Winner’s trophy will be presented by the Richland County Farm Bureau Federation. Participants awards ($50 gift cards to Tractor Supply Store) presented by Kelly’s Propane.
